The Satisfying Water That Jesus Gives

Image
Teatime with Jesus - Conversations tucked in the daily moments of the day John 4:10,13 - Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me to drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."  Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." Water - pure, clean, quenching, satisfying.   Lord, today I had moments of wrestling with unsettledness, reaching to quench the aching ache and the longings and desires of my heart with something other than You.  As water quenches my thirst on a hot summer day, so You as the Water of Life quenches, satisfies this ache, even the good desires of my heart that seem to lie silent or even as I wonder what is the meaning of all that is happening...  Lord, more than an outcome, more than fulfill...

The Sun, The Son - Gives Life

Image
Tea with Jesus - Conversations in the daily moments of life Jesus - You are the Way, the Truth and the Life.   As the sun shines on my face, I give thanks.  The sun warms the body and allows physical life to be on this earth.  In the same way, You, the Son, warms my soul and allows the truest form of life to be.  You are the Life and give life and want to give it to me abundantly.  As I stay with You and claim Your Truth, I find Life.  Thank you for life. Your child

Convinced of the Father's Love

Image
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.  for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39 In Genesis when God created the world and man, He declared it good, very good.  Man had not done anything yet to prove or earn God's love.  God loved and declared goodness because that is what He saw in His creation.  God loved and declared goodness because that is who He is - period.  You and I will do nothing to alter this and Paul declares the reality of this truth for himself.   Paul writes the words, declaring them for all of us to believe. There are so many things that break this truth for us - the brokenness us humans carry that affect others, whether by simply being human or i...

The Hiddenness of Winter

Image
Life beneath the ground, the white, and the cold is lying silent to our eyes.  Most of it is at rest and what lies beneath is still life. Life hidden, is life still important. It's life that really matters for it is the sustaining sap of the tree and plant that allows it to continue to produce life year after year. In the hard and cold of our lives, in 'our winters' God is wanting to do life where it matters most - within, changing us from glory to glory. I Corinthians 3:18 - But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (NAS) Romans 8:18 - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed in us.

The Invitation of Wonder

Image
Wonder.  This word alone is deep and full and leaves me with few words to express what it does inside of us when we step into the space of wonder. Webster gives us the definition of - a person, thing, or event that causes astonishment and admiration; the feeling of surprise or admiration aroused by something strange, unexpected, or incredible. To be filled with wonder; amazement; marvel. A miraculous thing or act; miracle; to be curious; want to know. Luke 2:17 - And when they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. Mary treasures all she has witnessed and experienced and ponders them in her heart. Luke 2:19 As the angels went away into heaven the shepherds said, "Let us go... and see this thing..." And when they had seen... they made known. Luke 2:15-17 When wonder fills our hearts, there are two responses.  Like the shepherds, we tell others.  Like Mary, we treasure what we have seen in our hearts and ponder, which ...

Choosing to Believe In the Midst of Disappointment and Finding Life

Image
"I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.  Do you believe this?"  John 11:25-26 These words were spoken to Martha as she met Jesus, who was coming to their place after Lazarus had died.  Jesus arrived four days after Lazarus was laid in the grave.  She met Jesus with her disappointment, after all, she had sent for Him to come.  She met Him, saying, - "Lord, if You had been here my brother would not have died."  And in the midst of her disappointment she held faith - "Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You." And then Jesus reveals a bit of Himself to her with the words that He is the resurrection and the life and she responds to Jesus' question - "Yes, Lord; I have come to believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God and He who comes into the world." Our journey so often holds this same tension - the tension ...

Life Abundantly

Image
The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.  John 10:10 There are two forces going on.  One is the one who wants to steal, kill, and destroy life.  The other is the One who wants to give life and give it abundantly. Recognizing these two forces at work in my life, helps me to understand the battle plan.   Jesus is the one who said these words as to why He came.  He came to give life.  There is a word that caught my attention - might.  This word tells me there is a condition and that is each one of us has a choice to accept and lean into this love.  Jesus is life and to know Jesus is know life.  The more we learn of Him and receive His truth, I believe the more abundant the life is within us.  To the degree of our awareness and acceptance of Jesus, it the degree of our abundant life. The more you and I choose Jesus and His words of Truth, the more life a...
