The Nearness of God When We Least Think So

Image
Psalm 34:18  The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.   When pain hits and death enters our world, when the rejection stings and the questions taunt, it's hard to believe in the goodness of God.  It's hard to think God is for us or even near. That is when the words of Jesus become a choice, clinging to belief that God is near the brokenhearted, saving the ones crushed in spirit. Jesus wants most of all to save us and sometimes the saving comes in ways we would not choose.  Sometimes the healing looks more broken than whole. Friend, fellow-way traveler, if you don't have the faith to 'see' God's goodness or believe He is for you or with you, that's ok.  Just reach towards Him, He is near.  Psalm 34:18 tells us so. Faith doesn't need to 'see' the way, it reaches towards the One who sees us.  Faith reaches and hangs on to the hand that holds ours and when our grip slips, He grips tighter. Where Do I Go With My Hard Cases?

Image
As I was reading God's Words I read this verse in Numbers 27:5 (NAS), And Moses brought their case before the Lord. It really impacted me. God reminded me... 'No, come to Me.  Bring your case or cases to Me and listen.  Listen for My Voice.  Listen to My Truth, I will lead and direct.' Jesus is Truth and when we stay with Him we find our way.  He can untangle threads and knots in ways that surpass my understanding and in ways that only He can; and so I surrender to Him and lean in to Him. Maybe today, you too, are struggling with ...

The Care of Our Father

Image
Having cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares about you.  I Peter 5:7 There is a place to go with all our anxiety. To cast, is to throw, to pitch, whatever is weighing down your heart or mind, on Jesus. The grief that is so heavy, let it at the feet of Jesus. There is so much that can cause us to be filled with anxiety. Anxiety is real, but the truest truth is we have a Father who cares and can handle carrying our pain, burdens, grief, and anxiety. Cast it into His Presence and let Him care for you.
