Pictures Are Words - Whitespace for the Soul
Words are good. Words give direction and inspiration.
But there are these moments, those times when silence is the best choice.
Be still (Stop striving (nasb)), and KNOW that I AM God... Psalm 46:10
It's the whitespace for the soul just like an artist creates whitespace in a painting.
Space for quiet. Space for rest. Space to inhale deeply the fragrance of God's love and grace. Space to take care of what needs to be cared for.
This space will very likely be quite scary and overwhelming at first. For many emotions and things will surface that we didn't realize were there. But if we stay, walk through it all, letting be what is, that is the only way to know what needs cared for and healing.
The whitespace, the quiet moments are the space that God can use to breathe His life back into our tired, parched, and weary souls. It's a place we find His truest life for our every need.
The whitespace for the soul...
Like apples of gold in settings of silver, is a word spoken at the proper time. Proverbs 25:11
But sometimes our actions speak louder than words.
Because when we do something it can destroy what we just said. And oftentimes what we do is way more convincing than what we just said.
Very likely in someone's deep moments of pain or sorrow, words will feel empty. Pictures, nature, speak soothingly without words for the soul interprets from it what it needs.
God has so orchestrated nature to be soothing. The green, the blue, the colour, the sounds, all blend to create a symphony that speaks in a myriad of ways, unique to the need of the soul.
Sometimes what can reorient our hearts and minds, is to simply step into God's physical world and remember that He has got it all and He is in control and can orchestrate in ways that are beyond my comprehension.
