Light, Glorious Light

John 8:12 Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Light.

Pushes back darkness.

On a morning walk, as light was dawning, the sun was rising, darkness was receding.

I felt deep within my soul the glorious thrill and hope of light.

In the midst of financial fears, unending working through relationships, prayers for my sons that are uttered yet again...

Dark. Hard. Yes.
But there was light!

In stark contrast to the dark.
The dark was fading away, giving up to the dawning of a new day because of sun's light.

The words in I Corinthians 13:12 came starkly to my mind, whispering their truth, "For now we see through a glass dimly... but then I shall know fully..."

Yes, now light brings shadows with it. We see dimly, not fully understanding or being completely aware.

But someday, someday we shall see clearly, completely, fully knowing.

Then a short time later as I was reading, spending some quiet moments with my Jesus, I read in Revelation 22:1-5, some more words that caused my heart to settle a bit more.

Someday.

Revelation has a few words for that someday.

Another garden. A river of life coming from the throne of God, in the middle of a street. And the tree of life.

And verse three, no more curse. Ahh, my heart takes a deep breath and inhales that promise.

No more sickness. No more anger. No more disappointments. No more...

The curse was given in a garden and it's forever removed in a garden.

And in this garden there will be no more dark! Did you hear that??!? No more dark!

No more pain, no more confusion, no more temptations, no more fears, no more...

Why?

Jesus IS LIGHT!

Perfect Light. No more shadows, ALL will be clear! The Son's light.

Glorious light! Eternal, pure, and clear light!
