The Name of the Lord is a Tower

 The name of the Lord is the strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe (set on high). Proverbs 18:10. This verse would indicate that we have an enemy. The reality is, we do. We battle against the discouragement, doubt, guilt, fears, anxieties, and more that he brings and taunts us with.   This morning, as I was walking, I felt this tactic, the onslaught of discouragement. I was weary and tired while waiting on the Lord's timing in hard situations. I was feeling overwhelmed with weight of expectations and felt the weight of wrestlings and ones that were not just my own.  The whisper came, the name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and are safe.  I paused and spent the next moments thinking through some of the names of my Father.  He is the Way. The Throne of Grace

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need. There are several words that stand out to me... confidence, throne of grace, mercy, need. When I have a need and am weak, confidence is usually not my posture or the way I walk. The verses that precede this one tells us that we have a high priest and one who can sympathize with our weaknesses.  Jesus, our High Priest, is one who was tempted in all things, yet did not sin.  This high priest invites us to come to His throne, the throne of grace. He invites us to come with confidence  so that we may find what we need in our moments of need. Jesus, the Life-giver, wants us to come in confidence. Confident, not slinking, but eyes on Him, the giver of grace. The Giver of manna grace, grace for today. Grace to respond with kindness instead of reacting. Grace to smile when I feel otherwise. Grace of wisdom to know which step to take...
